Today in a bible study class at church we were talking about the differences between the docrtine of Purgatory and the doctrine of Paradise. I used a photo of an old bas-relief from a Baltimore church to illustrate what purgatory was about. I think this work of art does that pretty well. It is an incredible work whether you believe in purgatory or not.
I saw one other example of this bas-relief in Baltimore when I worked in church restoration. Has anyone else seen this before?
