Post-Election Wrap Up and Thoughts

What are my thoughts on the election? I am a republican, but I voted third party because the republican party has long ago strayed from its roots. My vote was not a throw-away vote by any stretch of the imagination because I voted according to my conscience. I could not bring myself to vote for anyone who supports nation building and international meddling (and who is only partially pro-life). Neither could I bring myself to vote for someone who is pro-death and believes in the redistribution of wealth (and also believes in nation building, incidentally). In my opinion McCain and Obama were the same candidate. If more Americans voted third party and weren't seduced by the talking heads on CNN and the other news shows into thinking that there were just two candidates then maybe there would be real "change", and "change you can believe in" in this country.

I wish the new president success overall, and will certainly pray for him as the Scriptures and BCP require. He'll need all the prayers he can get. Honestly, I think his election is going to polarize the nation even more - another reason we need a third party. (I think McCain's would have polarized us too, but less, since people are so used to Bush and company already.) If Obama tries to reach across the aisle as he says, he will no doubt run into lots of trouble and grief from his own party and people as he certainly will from the "right". An interesting article from the Wall Street Journal (I stopped reading that rag the New York Times a long time ago) says that that same spirit of bi-partisanship is one of the things that undid Bush.
